Rutgers Alum Eric LeGrand Launches Bourbon Line

Apr 15, 2023

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ — Eric LeGrand, the former Rutgers football defensive tackle who became paralyzed in a 2010 game, has now launched his first-ever whiskey line.

The drink is called Eric LeGrand Kentucky Straight Bourbon.

"My recovery journey has mirrored that of my bourbon. Both take precision, patience and trust in the process," said LeGrand.

Eric LeGrand Bourbon is distilled in Owensboro, Kentucky and bottled in Bardstown, Kentucky.

He says the liquor is produced using "choice heartland-grown corn, limestone-purified water and the freshest rye and barley available. Aged no less than two years in perfectly charred oak barrels, our premier whiskey boasts a warm nose and a smooth and crisp finish."

LeGrand and business partner Brian Axelrod will donate $5.20 of every case sold to the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation, which is dedicated to curing spinal cord injury and improving quality of life for individuals and families impacted by paralysis. To date, the LeGrand team has raised close to $2 million for spinal cord research.

LeGrand is also a motivational speaker and sports analyst for ESPN, Sirius, the Big Ten Network and Rutgers radio.

He also owns LeGrand Coffee House next to the Woodbridge train station. He was raised in the Avenel section of Woodbridge and still lives locally in the Woodbridge area.
